  -  Business Features   -  The Beverly Hills Education Foundation: Efforts to Support Beverly Hills Public Schools

The Beverly Hills Education Foundation was established in 1978. The first of its kind, BHEF became a national model for more than 500 school districts throughout the United States. BHEF works diligently to raise funds to support outstanding programming and staff which are the hallmark of a Beverly Hills public school education.

In October of 2018, we celebrated our 40th Anniversary at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel’s Secret Rosé Garden.  BHEF honored all past Presidents and presented former BHEF board member & Vice President Jonathan Prince with the BHEF Distinguished Service Award for his commitment and dedication to our mission.

In January 2019, BHEF teamed up again with mega Celebrity Trainer Dion Jackson and his All Seasons Fitness Media team along with Olympic Gold Medalist Bob Seagren’s Run Racing Team to host the second annual Beverly Hills 5K-10K Run/Walk & Fitness Blast, raising funds to support our programs and further the City’s mission to make Beverly Hills America’s healthiest city.

On March 17, 2019, BHEF proudly hosted the Los Angeles book launch of Mallory Smith’s Salt in My Soul: An Unfinished Life, featuring Diane Shader Smith in conversation with the Honorable Lili Bosse at the Ahrya Fine Arts Theatre.  An alumna of the BHUSD and Stanford University, Mallory was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at age 3.  In 2017, Mallory passed away at the age of twenty-five, two months after receiving a double lung transplant. Using excerpts from Mallory’s journal, the book tells her inspiring story of resilience.

For over forty years, the Beverly Hills Education Foundation has donated millions of dollars to our local schools thanks to the generosity of residents and businesses who have partnered with us to ensure the college and career readiness of our students. Our Business Sponsorship packages, ranging in levels from $1,000 to $25,000, provide essential funding to help us sustain and grow important programs that are the cornerstone of a world-class education.

In addition to supporting our schools throughout the school year, BHEF runs the WASC-accredited BHEF Summer Academy & Sports Program, supporting a wide range of summer educational needs serving the BHUSD and the greater Los Angeles community.

    • For high school students, the Summer Academy features academic and elective courses, including a new hybrid U.S. History course (taught both online and in-class) along with traditional get-ahead and credit recovery classes.
    • For elementary school students, our K-5 Math & Reading Program classes are intervention courses designed to remediate instruction for students identified as at-risk in English Language Arts and Mathematics.
    • For middle school students, we offer one-week enrichment bootcamps introducing fun-filled courses such as Audio Production, Culinary Arts, and Speech & Debate.

BHEF believes nothing is more important than the education of our children and it is our mission to ensure that our BHUSD schools have the resources to provide an exceptional public education. BHEF is a 501(c)(3) organization. For more information about our mission, or to support our organization, please click here.
