A Heritage of Craft, Reimagined in Beverly Hills
Long before establishing JIAHN, the designer’s creative perspective was shaped by an early appreciation for craftsmanship and the beauty of objects made by hand.
Growing up in Korea, she often spent her time in her uncle’s mother-of-pearl workshop after school, surrounded by iridescent shells that revealed different colors as they caught the light. At home, she watched her grandmother carefully make traditional Korean Hanbok, observing the graceful lines, subtle color combinations, and meticulous handwork involved in each piece.
These childhood memories of delicate craftsmanship became the foundation of designer JIAHN’s vision and the source of her distinctive artistic inspiration. Over time, they became an important part of her artistic identity and continue to influence the way she approaches fine jewelry today.
One of the traditional techniques closely connected to JIAHN’s work is “Kkuneumjil”, a Korean mother-of-pearl inlay technique. Thin pieces of mother of pearl are carefully cut, arranged, and inlaid by hand to create intricate patterns and luminous surfaces. The process requires patience, precision, and a deep understanding of the material.
For JIAHN, Kkuneumjil is more than a decorative technique. It connects the craftsmanship she encountered during childhood with the contemporary jewelry she creates today. The luminous surface of mother of pearl, the refinement of Korean lines and colors, and the discipline of handcraft have all become part of her distinctive design language.
JIAHN’s professional journey has unfolded across three important places.
She spent 13 years at a private boutique in Cheongdam dong, Seoul, followed by three years in Laguna Beach. Her journey then continued to Beverly Hills where her jewelry boutique has now been established for six years.
Although the surroundings changed from Seoul to Laguna Beach and ultimately Beverly Hills, the values at the center of her work remained consistent. Craftsmanship, authenticity, and attention to detail continued to guide every stage of her journey.
In 2026, JIAHN’s long dedication to craftsmanship and design received international recognition.
At the 2026 COUTURE Design Awards, JIAHN received 1st Place in the Pearls category. The brand also achieved a remarkable three category wins at the 2026 JCK Awards, marking an important milestone in a creative journey shaped by originality, authenticity, and years of dedication to fine craftsmanship.
These awards represented more than individual achievements. They reflected international recognition of the design language and creative identity JIAHN has developed over time.
Behind the recognition is a deeply personal philosophy.
For JIAHN, fine jewelry is not simply an ornament. It is something that can remain with a person throughout life and deepen in meaning over time.
A piece of jewelry can hold a memory, an emotion, or an important moment. As it is worn through different chapters of life, it gradually becomes part of their own story. Over time, its meaning can deepen and become even more personal to the person who wears it.
This belief remains at the heart of JIAHN.
Each creation is shaped not only by precious materials, but also by heritage, craftsmanship, memory, and the designer’s unique sensibility.
The shimmering mother- of-pearl she encountered in her uncle’s workshop remains connected to the jewelry she creates today. The elegant Korean lines and colors she observed in the Hanbok made by her grandmother continue to influence her aesthetic perspective.
Through “Kkuneumjil” and meticulous hand craftsmanship, these memories are transformed into contemporary fine jewelry.
The result is jewelry designed to last beyond a single moment or trend. Each piece is created to become more personal over time, carrying memories and meaning as it becomes part of someone’s life.
Today, that story continues in Beverly Hills.
At JIAHN’s private Beverly Hills boutique, guests are invited to experience the designer’s heritage, craftsmanship, and artistic sensibility in an intimate setting. The private space allows visitors to discover not only the jewelry itself, but also the memories, techniques, and ideas behind each creation.
It is a place where Korean craftsmanship and contemporary fine jewelry come together, where heritage is not simply preserved, but continuously reinterpreted through a modern point of view.
