Jean Davidson became Executive Director and CEO of The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in May 2026. Previously, she served as Executive Director of the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, where she strengthened the organization’s financial health, expanded its international presence, and enhanced partnerships with artists and patrons.

From 2015 to 2023, Davidson was President and CEO of the Los Angeles Master Chorale. Under her leadership, the Chorale saw over 50% budget growth, record revenue, successful international tours, and a revitalizing rebranding campaign in 2016 that deepened audience engagement and supported artistic innovation.

Earlier in her career, Davidson was the founding CEO of New York Live Arts, where she led the merger of two major dance organizations, Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and Dance Theater Workshop, creating a landmark interdisciplinary performance center in Chelsea, New York City. She also played a key role as founding managing director of the Silk Road Project, founded by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, producing major cultural events and expanding its global outreach.

A passionate advocate for community engagement, Davidson champions the power of the arts to build connections and enrich society. She has produced more than 200 new works in music, theater, and dance, collaborating with renowned artists and prestigious institutions worldwide.

Davidson holds a degree from Oberlin College and has taught and lectured at universities including the University of California, Irvine; New York University; and Università di Bologna. Her background as a lighting designer enriches her holistic approach to the performing arts.

Originally from West Virginia, Davidson brings a deep appreciation for diverse cultural experiences and community connection to her leadership.
