KOOZA combines the traditional artistry of acrobatics and clowning, weaving humor with breathtaking feats of agility and strength. The show, whose title is derived from the Sanskrit word “Koza,” meaning “box” or “treasure,” explores the themes of identity, duality, and the delicate interplay between strength and fragility. Our members were captivated by the daring performances, from soaring trapeze stunts to stunning high-wire acts, all delivered with Cirque du Soleil’s unique flair and precision.

Behind-the-Scenes Magic

We began our KOOZA journey with an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour, allowing members to see what goes into bringing Cirque du Soleil’s magic to life. The tour offered insight into KOOZA’s rich history, including Cirque du Soleil’s return to Santa Monica since its first West Coast premiere in 1987. Members were immersed in the intricate details and artistry that transform the Big Top into an extraordinary world of wonder.

A VIP Experience to Remember

Later, the Chairman Circle members gathered for a pre-show VIP experience, mingling with one another and soaking in the excitement before the premiere. This special reception provided a perfect setting for networking, as members connected in an atmosphere filled with the energy and anticipation that only Cirque du Soleil can create.

Opening Night Premiere Celebration

Our evening culminated with the spectacular Opening Night performance, where members joined a sold-out crowd in celebrating KOOZA’s premiere at the Santa Monica Pier. As we watched the awe-inspiring acts unfold, it was clear that Cirque du Soleil’s legacy of storytelling through the circus arts continues to amaze and inspire.

Atlanta Rapper T.I. Performs

I was recently at a very small reception for the opening of a new company. There were approximately 40 people in attendance, some beautiful charcuterie boards strategically placed, flower arrangements, piped music and champagne. The reception was about an hour long. Simple and easy, right? It wasn’t so much for the host, who was the company owner. I spoke with him at the end, and he said he was so stressed out by all of it. That’s not unusual when events aren’t what you do regularly.

As someone who plans private events, fundraising galas, multi-day conferences, and large festivals, a simple reception like that one is something we can do easily. But, for someone who does not do it normally, it’s more than just a little stressful, it’s simply unenjoyable. The host did not enjoy his own party. It was a joyous celebration, but he wasn’t able to take it in, and be in the moment. He was an excellent host, and everyone else had a wonderful time, so it was a huge success … but at what cost to him emotionally?
